Pragnan bachala is an owner and UC design principal of Simple minds. Pragnan has received recognition and awards in Architecture from various institutes and multiple distinctions through his career. He has also been an esteemed student of one of the top schools for architecture in the world - pratt Institute nyc. He has also worked under his father Mr.vinod bachala as an intern and has been following his footsteps to success. He is also a very design oriented personage and is dedicated to the ultimate sophistication "the human touch".
In addition to receiving numerous recommendations and design awards - including awards and recognition from pratt, - Pragnan's work has been on the rise and is being developed. Pragnan is also a passionate speaker and participates in design juries around the world. He never ceases to influence, inspire and improve the way people live, work and travel. Across his amalgamation of work in locations around the world, pragnan is known for his very radical and atmospheric or elemental perspective to design, where the sustenance of the ecological components and the ecoscape try to remain as primordial as they can be with an influence where rugged materials are left in natural or raw states to metamorphose in time with exposure to the natural states and elements surrounding them. The most euphoric experiences are ones with nature and design ... biomimicry is something he is fond of and sustaining life with design.
Diversity of Work
Pragnan bachala's diverse body of work evolves from his formal education and technical Outlook of various inhibitions which root from the people who inhabit these edifices. Ranging from a small cabin to a skyscraper, Pragnan's work draws heavily from context, place, culture, site and history whether it may be urban or rural. His work is for multiple locations is created with a very detailed outlook and analysis.
Pragnan thinks of designing an edifice like a mother thinks of her child. Just like a child gains traits from the mother and father characteristics are developed in both ways, that is an architects perspective and a clients perspective. When these perspectives and the analysis comes together it evolves into a story to tell.
Pragnan's everlasting interest in the ways people interact with their surrounding or their environments, both built and natural, was honed throughout his extensive career designing private residences, but it is just as present in all of his work. His work dives into many sectors and exhibits a keen sensitivity to scale and detail, resulting in highly appropriate architecture that emphasizes elements and moments of a certain human connection. Pragnan practices keeping in mind architecture and mother nature's elemental qualities: touch materiality, texture, detail and all of this in accordance with life as a whole.
I always try and recontextualize what architecture means and how a relationship arises with design and the way in which it is tied to human evolution. Nothing is ever complete – materials weather and clients address problems. The evolution of art and how with time it ages like wine gently show evidence of change; they exhibit and evoke a sense of history and place. In that sense they are veracious
Leadership and Recognition
Pragnan has long been an inquisitive leader, pioneering many of the programs and core practices that have helped simple Minds grow from a tiny office with no employees to a boutique design practice with many employees. Many of these contributions include the international Internship Program , inspiration for weekly critique sessions, integrated studio organization, and multiple architectural engagement programs etc. He has led numerous firm-wide initiatives to enable and cultivate connectivity both within the firm, and between simple Minds and the architectural community. He has participated in numerous lectures and enabled a keen sense of depth and understanding in the architectural community.
Pragnan's work with his father has garnered national recognition and is continuing to do so. In addition to his various contributions to the architectural society and the field of architecture, pragnan is a polo player and is also a nature enthusiast and conservationist.
Something I love about simple Minds is the involvement we have with art and culture. We often collaborate with artists and craftspeople to create art for the greater good and participate with charity organizations for donations for art. We strive to have the best possible outcome with design, be it ecological damage or clientele requirement
I think it's easier to build a grand opera than a personal house. The mother art is architecture without architecture and nature civilization fails
